Is Renewable Energy Efficient?

A licensed electricity and natural gas supplier, Green Choice Energy provides renewable, clean energy solutions to commercial and residential customers. Dedicated to helping consumers easily navigate the process of switching from non-renewable energy to renewable energy, Green Choice Energy offers several different energy plans that suit customers’ consumption habits and budgets. This makes customer energy use as efficient as possible.

Energy efficiency is a common concern for green companies and people who are attempting to go green, so it's important that they understand the efficiency of renewable energy. There are many sources of renewable energy, including wind power, solar power, and hydro power. Regardless of the specific type of power, renewable sources aim to reduce global warming emissions, improve public health, and provide communities with plenty of new jobs that ultimately promote economic strength.

Wind power is one of the more efficient types of renewable energy, according to the New Jersey Institute of Technology. This was determined based on the cost of environmental damages resulting from the energy source, along with the cost of energy production and the cost of fuel. In fact, it was predicted by the Department of Energy that wind energy would make up 35 percent of electrical production in the United States by 2050. The Global Wind Energy Council and Greenpeace International also believe wind will provide 25 to 30 percent of electricity around the world by that same year.

This doesn’t mean that wind is the only efficient source of renewable energy. Geothermal energy is the second-most efficient form of renewable energy production, based on the New Jersey Institute of Technology’s rating, followed by hydro, nuclear, and solar power. While some of these sources do not produce energy at all times of the day, such as solar power, they are capable of producing enough energy load for use throughout the day via on-grid management.
